It seems that there is nothing complicated: I bought a washer, plugged it in, loaded the laundry. In fact, it turns out that an automatic washing machine requires optimal water pressure in the water supply. It is good if there is water supply in the village, but what about those who do not?
Indications for the installation of SMA
Manufacturers are trying to improve their washing machines, to make them more economical. In order to reduce the operating time in the modes requiring water intake, you need to quickly fill it into the tank. Therefore - good pressure is needed in the water supply.
What kind of water pressure is needed for a washing machine? Depends on the programming of the electronic module. One washer may not start at all, highlighting a malfunction code on the display. Another SM, due to the small pressure, will significantly reduce the quality of washing, since detergents will be washed off with difficulty. In order not to make an unnecessary purchase, we will figure out what pressure is needed for a washing machine from different manufacturers.
- For cars, AlGi, Electrolux, Daewoo, Zanussi and Samsung, the preferred pressure is from 0.3 Bar. There are also 0.4 Bar - it depends on the settings of the main module.
- CMA models Indesit, Virpul, Beco, AEG, Ariston and Candy require a minimum of 0.4 Bar. In practice, many of these machines will work with less pressure.
- The Bosch and Miele automatic washers will function normally if the minimum pressure is 0.5 bar. Although the exact readings depend on the specific model.
- The Atlant washing machine requires a minimum pressure of 0.6 Bar, and the record for Kuppersbush is as much as 0.8-0.9 Bar. Depending on the model, the indicator may drop to 0.5 bar.
For residents of the village or the private sector, where there are problems with water supply, the water pressure barely reaches 0.1 Bar. That is, it does not even reach the minimum level of water pressure for the washing machine.
Way out
If you have reduced water pressure, this does not mean that you cannot use the equipment. There are two options for you:
- Install a booster pump to pump water into the washing machine.
- If there is no water supply at all - buy a washing machine that does not require a connection to the central water supply.

Convenience of a water pressure boosting pump
After connecting the pump, another question arises: how do I know if it’s time to pour water into the washer? In normal mode, the module gives a signal to the inlet valve, it opens and fills the water. But if you turn on the pump when the valve is closed, this will lead to an emergency. To supply water to the washing machine, it has become more convenient, there is such a way:
- Need to get to the intake valve. To do this, unscrew the two screws on the back, remove the top cover.
- At the top of the wall is a valve.
- Two wires lead to each valve, to which the terminals are connected. Then, two wires are connected to the terminals, which should be displayed outside the housing.
- These two wires (A and B) are connected to a current source according to this scheme:
- At the output, a relay is installed, the contacts of which are connected to the pump. It turns out a kind of automatic water pressure for the pump.
Now the valves and the pump are connected: when the washer sends a signal to the intake of water, the relay will operate, and the pump will turn on. Without energizing the valve, water injection will stop. You can make a similar bunch yourself. Then you don’t have to watch the car for hours, controlling the water intake.
Connection options for a washing machine without running water
If there is no water supply, then neither the pump nor the high pressure hose for the washing machine will help. The solution will be to buy a car with a tank. Produces such models TM Gorenje.
Such machines do not require a connection to the water supply. A special tank of various volumes is connected to their body. Water is manually poured into it, after which washing is performed as in a regular automatic machine.

Depending on the selected volume of the tank, the water is enough for 2-6 washes. The range of such washing machines is not too wide, but you can choose interesting and ergonomic options. Of course, the price category of such SMA is slightly higher than that of ordinary ones - this must be taken into account.
Attention! The owners of such cars complain about a significant drawback: because of the narrow neck, the tank is uncomfortable to wash. But this is fully compensated by the fact that without water supply you can wash clothes quite qualitatively.
