Not all refrigerators are equipped with the Nou Frost system, and in the drip ice in the freezer, no one is surprised, because it is defrosted manually. But what if this problem arose in modern models? You need to find the cause of the problem and fix it. In the article we have collected all the possible options.
Why does ice form in the freezer
If in the refrigerator "Samsung", "Bosch", "Ariston" or other brands the No Frost defrosting system is installed and at the same time the snow coat in the freezer freezes, it is not necessary to break. You may be operating the device incorrectly.
- Look at the control panel. Have you set the Super Freeze mode? In electromechanical models, it is manually disabled. The compressor will pump cold until you cancel the installation.
- Check temperature controller. The temperature in the chamber should be from -17 to -19 degrees. Otherwise, the compartment will freeze very much, snow may form under the freezer, and the motor will wear out. Adjust the thermal relay. Even if the room is too hot, do not set the temperature low - when the equipment is selected correctly, it will achieve the desired performance.
Minor problems include wear on the door seal. Warm air enters the gap, and the performance in the compartment rises. The compressor works with a double load, forcing cold, so the snow freezes on the walls.
If the door is not closed properly, or the seal has become loose, a red light may flash on the panel or a signal may sound.
Need to perform a rubber change. Perhaps it does not adhere well to the body because it is clogged. You can wash it with warm water and soap, and wipe with ammonia.
Sagging hinges also lead to a loose fit of the door. Then most of the ice will gather on the edge, near the door of the freezer. You can tighten the hinges yourself.
The red indicator flashes after loading the camera. If you put a lot of warm food in the compartment, wait until the temperature recovers.
What malfunctions require repair
Ice in the compartment may indicate a malfunction. Be careful and you will be able to detect a malfunction.
Drainage obstruction
Snow accumulates at the bottom of the freezer. In the refrigerator with Nou Frost, there may be water below the drawers. After the motor is turned off for rest, the evaporator heater is switched on and ice defrost occurs. All moisture flows into the drainage hole and is removed from the system. The drain could become clogged with small debris, crumbs. It must be cleaned.
On some models, the hole is located behind the panel that you must first remove.
You can clean the hole with a thin wire or a syringe with water.
Defrost system defective
In this case, the back wall is covered with a snow coat and ice. Failure of any component of the evaporator - heater, timer, fuse - leads to the absence of defrost. Therefore, the evaporator is covered with snow. The channel, which is responsible for supplying cold, also freezes, so the temperature in the department begins to rise. You may notice that the compressor shuts off less and less.
It is necessary to inspect, diagnose the details of the evaporator. This will require special equipment, so it is better to contact the master.
Temperature sensor failure
The compressor rarely shuts off “to rest”. The walls of the freezer compartment are covered with ice and snow, if there is a separate thermostat or compressor. If there is one control on both chambers, then ice can also form on the back of the refrigerator.
When the temperature sensor breaks down, the control board does not know what temperature is in the chamber. Therefore, it instructs the motor to pump the cold harder.
It is necessary to replace the temperature sensor. Additionally, a malfunction code may appear on the display. To check the sensor for serviceability, it is necessary to completely defrost the refrigerator. Diagnostics is carried out with a multimeter. Resistance should be 4.7 kOhm.
Refrigerant leak
Continuous operation of the compressor leads to ice on the evaporator. However, the temperature is still too high and does not reach the set level. If defrosting is performed, the refrigerator may stop turning on.
Constant refrigerant leakage in the evaporator leads to freezing of ice and non-stop operation of the motor. After all the gas has evaporated, both chambers will stop working. Therefore, you need to find the cause and place of the leak. The master will cope with this best of all, he will repair the damaged area and refuel the system with freon gas.
If you notice that frost is growing in your refrigerator with Nou Frost - sound the alarm, this is not normal. Try to defrost it yourself and check the above details, or contact a service center.
