After the plastic windows are installed, it is necessary to carry out finishing work, which involves the installation of external and internal slopes. There are several ways to install them: you can fix them on a pre-installed frame or stick the slopes on the windows using various adhesives.
Types of materials
Work can be performed using the following materials:
- Drywall. For the manufacture of used boards brand GVLV - a moisture-proof drywall. Installation can be done in several ways: put on glue, putty, on mounting foam or fix on a frame structure;
- Plastic panels. They have a nice glossy surface in harmony with the profile of the PVC window. Fastening can also be carried out by fixing to glue, foam or using modern material - liquid plastic;
- MDF panels. They are not used to make slopes very often due to the fact that it is not easy to choose the appropriate appearance of the panels so that they are combined with the material of the profile;
- Sandwich panels. They are used to arrange insulated surfaces of window niches;
- Plaster. The most inexpensive and traditional material. Most often used for outdoor work. To work with this material, you must have certain professional skills for the quality of work.
Mounting foam mounting method
You can glue the slopes on the windows using mounting foam. It is a universal material with a high degree of adhesion. How to glue drywall slopes in this way is shown below.
- On the window opening, the width and depth are measured from above. On the sides, the height is measured twice - at the window and at the wall;
- In accordance with the obtained dimensions, details are drawn on the drywall sheet;
- Using a construction knife, necessary details are cut out;
- The mounting foam is applied to the slope, a plasterboard component is pressed for a few seconds, then it is separated from the wall and waiting for the foam to expand again. Then the part is applied back and fixed in the required position. In this case, you can use self-tapping screws, which are removed after drying the mounting foam;
- Metal corners with perforation are installed on drywall corners;
- The corners are finished with putty and left to dry completely;
- At the final stage, the surface is painted.
Why choose plastic products
Plastic is the most common and versatile material.
This is due to its operational characteristics and ease of installation. The advantages of plastic slopes include:
- Ease of surface care - just wipe the plastic with a rag and soap;
- High-quality plastic does not fade when exposed to sunlight;
- Plastic is best combined externally with the surface profile of plastic windows;
- The service life of these products is estimated in decades;
- For plastic slopes, when they are insulated, mineral wool can be used. In this case, heat loss through the window structure is reduced and the effect of fogging of the window is eliminated;
- Moisture resistance of plastic is obvious, therefore it does not collapse under the influence of condensate;
- Simple installation - it is enough to process the parts with adhesive and fix them on the surface of the base.
Mounting
You can glue plastic slopes in the traditional way - on a mounting foam. This installation has some differences from that used for slopes made of drywall.
- At the initial stage, a start profile is installed around the perimeter of the window opening. In order for the connection to have sufficient tightness, when attaching the profile, its back side is covered with a thin layer of silicone sealant;
- Details are cut from sheet plastic 8 mm thick. The windows are measured in the same way as when installing parts from drywall;
- A window frame is installed along the perimeter of the window;
- A starter profile is attached to the wooden frame;
- The resulting parts are inserted into the U-shaped starting profile. Preliminarily, a layer of mounting foam is applied on the entire plane of the base in a wave-like manner, while the space between the bar and the frame is completely filled;
- Plastic elements are fixed with masking tape for drying time.
What is liquid plastic
Liquid plastic has recently appeared on the construction market. He found application in many fields, including for the installation of plastic slopes.
Liquid plastic is a type of modern sealant that can be used as glue for attaching plastic slopes. The content of liquid PVC in its base gives this material many positive qualities.
Mode of application
Using this glue, it is guaranteed to get a strong adhesion of the material and surface.
Using liquid plastic in the processing of joints and seams, you can be sure that it will never turn yellow, as is the case with silicone counterparts. This provides a neat appearance for the window opening.
During temperature surges inside the room, plastic panels fixed with silicone can lose the joint density. And the panels, put on glue in the form of liquid plastic, will hold their places for many years.
When working with this material, it is important to consider that it hardens in one minute.. This is the interval for which it is necessary to apply and distribute it on the surface. You need to work quickly and efficiently the first time.
It is also worth considering that liquid plastic is quite toxic due to the chemical reaction that is taking place, so when working with it, you must use a respirator and ensure the flow of fresh air into the room.
It should be noted that after the adhesive based on liquid PVC dries, it will become completely harmless to the environment and people.
Positive qualities of liquid plastic
The appearance of this modern material did not go unnoticed by specialists involved in the installation of metal-plastic windows. For them, the question of how to glue plastic slopes forever disappeared. The following positive qualities are characteristic of liquid plastic:
- When processing joints, the highest degree of sealing is achieved;
- It can not be washed off with water, like a silicone analogue;
- It does not turn yellow with time, does not exude and does not absorb extraneous odors;
- The material does not change its qualities after even 10 years;
- It has moisture resistance;
- It does not rot and does not become moldy;
- It does not collapse and does not fade when exposed to sunlight;
- Resistant to mechanical stress;
- It has an affordable cost.
If you stick the slope on liquid plastic, you get a neat monolithic design.
